Integration hub

The CAD, PDM, and PLM systems CADTALK reads from, all flowing through one rules engine.

Pick your system below for the details, or read on to see how every integration works.

Supporting leading CAD and Business Enterprise systems

List may not be exhaustive. These are the most common integrations CADTALK supports. Other engineering systems can often be supported through spreadsheet, CSV, or XML export. Bring a specific system to a CADTALK representative to confirm the pathway.

How CADTALK works

How every CADTALK integration works

Whatever system engineering uses, CADTALK runs the same four steps. Only the first one changes from system to system, and each system's page explains it.

  • Step 1: Read. CADTALK reads the BOM and its properties from your CAD, PDM, or PLM system: part numbers, descriptions, quantities, materials, revision levels, and custom properties, as engineering defined them.
  • Step 2: Transform. CADTALK's expression-based, low-code configurable intelligence applies your rules to turn the engineering BOM into a manufacturing BOM. Phantom assemblies flatten, stock materials and consumables attach, make-or-buy flags set, units convert, part numbers classify. No code written.
  • Step 3: Validate and publish. Color-coded indicators show what's new, what changed, and what already exists in the ERP. Validation catches missing fields or bad values before anything is written. One click creates or updates the items, multi-level BOMs, and routings, with attachments on the ERP record.
  • Step 4: Keep going. The next design change runs the same path. CADTALK finds the delta, merges it, and the ERP stays current with engineering without anyone re-keying a line.

One rules engine, every source

Several CAD tools, one ERP

Most manufacturers don't run one design system. Mechanical in SOLIDWORKS or Inventor, electrical in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN, a PLM at one site and a vault at another. CADTALK reads each source as its own interface and runs them all through the same rules, so the ERP gets one consistent product structure. Electrical and mechanical BOMs can land together as one machine.

  • Release to production 5x faster: the CAD-to-ERP handoff that took hours or days runs in minutes.
  • Payback in 2 to 4 months: based on engineering hours recovered alone.

  • Fewer BOM mistakes: automated transfer removes the transcription errors that cascade into purchasing and production.
  • One structure across the business: engineering, purchasing, planning, and production work from the same product record.
  • Built to last through upgrades: CADTALK is configurable, not custom, so a CAD or ERP upgrade doesn't mean rebuilding the integration.

Engineers stay in engineering. You didn't go to school for data entry. Removing the re-key work gives that time back to product development, and people stick around longer when the job is the job they signed up for.

Capabilities

Beyond basic imports

CADTALK provides standardized, in-depth integrations with expression-based, low-code, configurable intelligence.

  • Creates and updates ERP items with full field support

  • Manages multi-level bills of materials with quantities, find numbers, and notes

  • Develops and maintains manufacturing routings with labor operations and cycle times
  • Tracks and identifies every change between engineering and the ERP

  • Uploads document attachments to the ERP record
  • Manages vendor and manufacturer data on the item record

Intelligent data transformation. CADTALK's Smart Configuration Engine adapts to your business with data transformation rules that evolve with your processes. (Link "Smart Configuration Engine" to /features-and-benefits/smart-configuration-engine/.)

  • Bi-directional data flow between engineering and the ERP

  • Automated part numbering and classification

  • Advanced expression-based field-level mappings
  • Drag-and-drop BOM restructuring

  • Run on demand, on a schedule, or triggered by a release

Shared FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which ERPs does CADTALK work with?

Acumatica, IFS Cloud, Infor CloudSuite Industrial (SyteLine), Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, NetSuite, and SYSPRO.

What if our system isn't on the list?

Many engineering systems can be supported through a spreadsheet, CSV, or XML export. Bring your system to a CADTALK solutions engineer to confirm the path.

Can CADTALK add parts to the ERP BOM that aren't in the design?

Yes. Search the ERP from inside CADTALK and add purchased components, hardware, and consumables to the bill of materials.

How does CADTALK handle revisions?

CADTALK compares the new revision with the version in the ERP, creates the new version, and merges only the changes.

What fields does CADTALK support in the ERP?

Every field on items, BOMs, and routings, including custom fields, plus areas like vendors, manufacturers, and document attachments.

Who uses CADTALK?

Anyone who manages items, BOMs, and routings in the ERP: manufacturing engineers, BOM managers, NPI teams, and the engineers who'd rather not re-key them.

How long does implementation take?

It depends on scope: the number of ERP objects, sites, and CAD sources. CADTALK is a configured product, so deployment is fixed-price and CADTALK's own team leads it. Your solutions engineer confirms the timeline in discovery.
